A Hall for every City

The City Hall (stadhuis) in Rotterdam is one of the buildings from before World War II. It is built during 1914-1920. Together with the old Post Office at the famous Coolsingel in Rotterdam.

Already in 1860 there were plans for a boardwalk with monumental buildings at the Coolsingel. Certainly with a new Town Hall and post office. Finally decided in 1904. As a result a 106 by 86 meters building. The height of the tower is 71 meters. With sand-colored natural stones for the outside. The Beaux-Arts style by architect Henri Evers includes Byzantine, Romanesque and Art-deco influences.

The Rotterdam City Hall during opening days is absolutely worth your time. Here is the location!
